Sorry about being so obsessive with Studio Ilse by designer Ilse Crawford but all the projects she and her team puts their hands on are critically magnificents. This time let me introduce you to Cathay Pacific‘s by Ilse Crawford Tokyo Haneda Airport premium passengers lounge. It is as if Tokyo’s Hotel Okura would meet Arne Jacobson’s Copenhagen Royal Hotel. It is a space in which Womb chairs and their ottoman by Saarinen for Knoll discuss with Dieter Rams’ Vitsoe comfy leather upholstered armchair and where business travelers can compute seated on a Fritz Hantsen Jacobsen’s Ant wheeled chair, their screen gently enluminated by bespoke e15 reading lamps.
I love hotels in which I stay to be lavish and yet understated at the same time. Quite an equation you might say but it can work and some ‘hoteliers’ have become masters in handling this balance … The Mark Hotel, NYC is one of these destinations. As I am preparing an editorial about hotels and sports training I will for sure mention The Mark Hotel in NYC where you can seriously work out with a private coach. Nevertheless the temptation was too strong to share about it now as it is always a reference and state of the art hotel where you sure should plan a stay whenever you’re back in town. Sporty or not !
Once a mid 19th century private townhouse, new Hotel La Tamise in Paris was fully decorated by Cybèle Paluel-Marmont. How can you not undertake a career in the hospitality industry with such a name ! Chateau Marmont and André Balazs anyone ? Yes this is the references that come to mind when one hear her name but be sure that the French Interior Designer has her very own style !
Le Touessrok, Mauritius Island, is now part of Shangri-La portfolio.
Well I visited this hotel many years ago but it still remains one of my favourite beach resort holidays experience. It is located in the Western part of Mauritius Island, and it faces the Ile aux Cerfs on which guests can spend the day for grand BBQ, play golf or indulge in the midst of luxuriant tropical landscapes. Le Touessrok Shangri-La’s Resort & Spa is fascinating not only because of its idyllic surroundings and premium features but mainly because of Mauritians people whom make it more exceptional. There is also a Givenchy Spa in the hotel and many interesting historical spots to visit. One must not miss the local markets filled with fresh food including fish, gorgeous fruits and greens to be cooked the same day. You must be patient if you want to stay over there as the hotel is currently under renovation phase and so until November 15 when it reopens.
